Clearwater Beach Condos – A Great Getaway in the Winter
Sales of Clearwater Beach condos have been very strong this last year, in some part because of the harsh winter last year and also because they have become more reasonably priced. From 2004-2009 it was hard to find a Clearwater Beach condo with a Gulf view under $400,000 and, during the peak, $600,000 was considered a good deal even without a direct Gulf view. Since the market has come down so much over the past few years there are some condos with a Gulf view in beach areas that have sold for under $300,000 although they were generally older ones that needed some work inside or smaller ones (small 1 bedroom or studio condos). The appeal of these condos is that you not only have a nice view but you are right in the beach area and in many cases can just take an elevator down and want out to a white sandy beach. You’re also not far from downtown Tampa and the airport so you have the advantage of being on the beach and having lots to do within a reasonable distance. The strongest demand for these condos were seen in the March-April period last year and most of the condos that were priced much lower than market value due to foreclosure or short sale situations were bought up quickly and even though it does look like prices may be starting to slowly rise now there are still good deals available.
